Weddings at St Wilfrid's are always special. It's not just the beautiful village as you approach. It's not just the amazing medieval building. It’s the way in which each couple is cared for from the moment they first get in touch with us to the moment they walk out of the church as husband and wife. It’s the way that God’s love is demonstrated in the way that their wedding is planned and prepared for. It’s the way they are welcomed back after their honeymoon and whenever they come to worship.

St Wilfrid’s is a special place to get married, a place where you can know God’s presence with you as you say those wonderful wedding vows. And because the wedding day is only the beginning, it’s a place that you can come back to time and time again as you celebrate your married lives together.

Don't just take our word for it. Here are a few things that a couple who have been married recently have said:

"Andy and I are both born and bred Grappenhall folk. We decided to get married, after being together a long time, it was important to us both and my grown-up children, that we could do it at St Wilfrid’s. Reverend Jane was amazing. She welcomed us with open arms. The whole process was lovely and emotional, we were made to feel totally at ease. Reverend Jane took us through the preparation and rehearsal with lots of laughs and a few tears of joy.
On the day of our magical wedding , her team played the music and guided us brilliantly, the whole ceremony was totally perfect! My friend said “It was the most personal, heartfelt ceremony, I have ever been to.“ She was correct! I was married to my soulmate by the most compassionate, friendly, caring Reverend, in such a beautiful Church. My son walked me down the aisle and my daughter was best woman. It was the most emotional and perfect wedding day possible."

Your Wedding Plans

The first step is an appointment with Rev'd Jane to fill in your application form. At this meeting you will also discuss dates and times, wedding fees and the legal issues around your marriage.

Following this you will be invited to one of our 'All Out For Love' Marriage Preparation Evenings. Here you will meet the Wedding Team and have the opportunity to meet other couples getting married at St Wilfrid's. The evening consists of supper together, a chat to a member of the Wedding Team to fill in the details of your wedding day plans, information about the service itself, discussion about married life and a candlelit visit to the church.

It's a lovely occasion and a way to really start to build links with the church and the congregation. We invite all wedding couples to attend church before their wedding, to worship with us and begin to feel a part of our church family.
